Hi, I am Averil, my pronouns are she/her. I was born in Birmingham, raised in London and I am a wonderful mix of European and Afro Caribbean heritage.
I have a corporate background within the broadcast industry, and I am the award-winning owner and cake designer of Vanilla Spice Cake Studio in Northamptonshire.
I have over 10 years’ experience in baking and cake design, and I take pride in bringing to life the visions of all the couples and individuals that I am privileged enough to work with.
I love to think outside the box to get the true brief of the design and ultimately deliver a unique and exquisite creation.

Why the name
Vanilla Spice Cake Studio?
When I was thinking of starting the business I knew I wanted to incorporate my love of my favourite spice, Vanilla, and the fact that part of my heritage comes from the spice islands in the Caribbean, and and how I grew up with my Dad making the most amazing food, full of flavour and love.
I wanted to incorporate that love into all the cakes I make. Every bite should be filled with joy.
My love of wedding cakes started when I made my first for one of my oldest friends. In doing so I discovered a passion for the art of sugar floristry, and I have continued to work
with and learn from, some of the best sugar floral artists in the world, to enhance my skills and to bring this artistry to the forefront of my creations.
